Care & Maintenance

Solid Surface is one of the most hygienic surfacing materials available. As it does not have any pores, its care and maintenance are quite easy. Unlike, for instance, granite that because of its porosity requires careful cleaning with chemicals, and most soap or abrasive cleansers cannot be used as they cause stains on its surface.

Everyday Care
For normal daily cleaning of your Solid Surface, it can be simply wiped with a damp cloth. Soap and water or small amount of general-purpose cleanser or mild detergent will easily clean out most stains, such as caused by food colouring, tea or fruit juice.

Removing Stains
For removing more stubborn stains from matt finish surfaces, can be used an abrasive cleanser, such as Ajax® or Flash®. For a satin finish use a non-abrasive cleanser, such as Soft Scrub®. For a high-gloss finish use a rubbing compound 3M Perfect-It™.
Note: Avoid using cleaning agents containing acids, such as methyl chloride or acetone. Should one of these products come into contact with the surface, as a precautionary measure you should rinse the surface with soapy water.

Removing Cuts and Scratches
The procedures for removing cuts and scratches will also depend on the finish of the surface: matt finish - to remove scratches, sand with 240-grit sandpaper in small circular motions until scratch is gone.
Then wipe the surface with an abrasive cleanser and rub it with Maroon 7447 Scotch-Brite® pad; satin finish - start sanding with 240-grit paper followed by 400-grit paper.
Clean the area with Soft Scrub® and restore it with Grey 7448 Scotch-Brite® pad; high-gloss finish - scratches can be removed by sanding with 240-grit and then 400-grit sandpaper. Further polishing with 3M Perfect-It™ polish compound will restore the surface to its original high-gloss appearance.
Note: Avoid sliding hard objects across the surface.

For the lasting quality of your Solid Surface products, we recommend to use Countertop Magic®. Simply spray it occasionally on the surface and rub with soft cloth or sponge. Regular use of Countertop Magic® will help to prevent stains, protect the surface from scratches and will keep it looking as new for a long time.
